Marketing Manager Resume Example & Writing Guide

Marketing hiring is unusually evidence-driven: budgets managed, channels owned, pipeline generated, teams led. This example shows how to present campaign work as commercial outcomes rather than a list of activities.

Recommended template: Executive Blue or Creative Designer

Marketing Manager resume summary example

  • Grew marketing-sourced pipeline 62% year on year while holding blended CAC flat
  • Rebuilt the lifecycle email programme, lifting trial-to-paid conversion from 9% to 14%
  • Managed a $1.4M annual budget across paid search, paid social and events
  • Hired and led a team of five; two were promoted into senior roles within 18 months

Skills to list

  • Demand generation: paid search, paid social, ABM, events, partner marketing
  • Lifecycle: email automation, onboarding, retention, segmentation
  • Analytics: GA4, HubSpot, Salesforce reporting, attribution modelling
  • Content and brand: positioning, messaging, SEO, campaign strategy

What marketing employers screen for

The screening filter is almost always channel and budget. A hiring manager wants to know which channels you personally ran, how much money you were trusted with, and what the money produced.

Seniority is inferred from team size and budget, so state both explicitly. Without them, an eight-year manager reads like a three-year specialist.

  • Budget owned, in currency and per year
  • Channels you personally ran versus oversaw
  • Pipeline, revenue, CAC, ROAS, conversion rate and retention figures
  • Team size, hiring and mentoring responsibilities
  • Martech stack: HubSpot, Salesforce, Marketo, GA4, Braze

Structuring the resume

Marketing resumes can carry more visual personality than most, but only for agency, brand and creative roles. For in-house B2B and enterprise applications, keep it clean and let the numbers do the work.

  • Summary: specialism, years, budget scale, headline result
  • Core skills: channels and platforms, grouped
  • Experience: 4–5 result bullets per role, strongest first
  • Selected campaigns: 2–3 with objective, approach and outcome
  • Education and certifications: Google Ads, HubSpot, Meta Blueprint

Writing campaign bullets that convert

Weak bullets describe execution: 'ran paid social campaigns'. Strong bullets describe a decision and its commercial result: 'shifted 30% of paid social spend to LinkedIn retargeting after a cohort analysis, lifting demo requests 41% at the same spend'.

Always pair a growth number with an efficiency number where you can. Growth alone can be bought; growth at flat or lower cost is what gets you hired.

Frequently asked questions

How do I show marketing results without revealing company revenue?
Use percentage changes, ratios and index figures — pipeline growth, conversion rate movement, CAC change, ROAS. These are standard in marketing hiring and disclose nothing confidential.
Should a marketing resume be visually designed?
For agency, brand and creative roles, a distinctive layout helps. For in-house B2B, SaaS or enterprise roles that go through an ATS, use a clean single-column template and put your creativity into a portfolio link.
What certifications matter on a marketing resume?
Google Ads and Analytics, HubSpot, Meta Blueprint and Salesforce credentials are recognised and cheap signals of platform fluency. List them, but keep them below your results.
